Landschapskussen / Landscape cushion

In het voorjaar kocht ik op een rommelmarkt een verzameling bolletjes dunne gemerceriseerde haakkatoen voor twee euro. 

Ik had er niet direct een bestemming voor. 

Daarna raakte ik gefascineerd door het werk van Renilde de Peuter. Daar heb ik het al eerder over gehad. 

Ik bedacht dat ik met die bolletjes een kussenovertrek kon maken op de manier waarop zij dat ongeveer doet.

Moeilijk voor mij, want het is improviseren en daar ben ik niet zo goed in. 

Het werd makkelijker toen ik ergens op Renildes weblog las dat ze die kussens ‘landschapskussens’ noemt. 

Gewoon aan een landschap denken.

In late spring I bought several balls of thin mercerized cotton yarn on a flea market for 2 euro’s.

I had no idea what to make with this yarn.

Later on I got fascinated by the work of Renilde de Peuter. I mentioned this earlier.

I thought I could try to make a cushion cover the way she does.

Difficult for me, because it involves improvising which is not one of my talents.

It became easier when I read somewhere on Renilde’s weblog that she calls these cushions ‘landscape cushions’.

I just had to think of a landscape.

Ik haakte met drie draden en wisselde steeds één van de draden voor een andere kleur.

Haken met drie draden is best lastig. Ik moest ervoor aan een tafel zitten in plaats van op de bank.

En het steeds bedenken hoe het nu verder moest kostte relatief veel tijd.

Nu is het kussen af! 

I crocheted with three treads of different color and now and then I changed one color for another. 

To crochet with three threads is tricky. I had to sit at a table in stead of on de couch.

And to decide how to proceed takes time.

Now this cushion is finished.

Anders dan Renilde doet, heb ik er een binnenkussen in gestopt. Ik had er nog een met een versleten overtrek, dus dat kwam mooi uit. 

Ik ben er tevreden over, al lijkt het niet op een Renildes landschapskussen, vind ik.
Contrary to what Renilde does, I put a filler in the cover. I had one with an obsolete cover.

I am pleased with the way this project turned out, although I think it does not look like a Renilde’s landscape cushion.

Update rondjesdeken / Update circle blanket

Langzaamaan vordert mijn rondjesdeken.
Ik moet nog vijf lange naden dichthaken.
Ik heb gekozen voor haken met halve vasten aan de goede kant.
Het resultaat is wel dat een opstaande rand (zie de drie naden rechts), maar dat vind ik niet storend.
Ik verwacht dat de naden platter zullen zijn na het blocken.
Slowly my circle blanket reaches the finish.
I still have to close five long seams.
I chose to join the squares using slip stitches on the right side.
The result is a pronounced seam (see the three seams on the right side), but that I don’t mind. I expect the seams will be flatter after blocking.

Negen bij zestien = 144 vierkantjes /
Nine by sixteen = 144 squares

De vierkantjes haak ik aan elkaar met halve vasten. /
The squares I join with a slip stitch.

Daarna moeten er nog wel enkele draadjes worden weggewerkt. /
After joining there are still some yarn ends to weave in.
